Miss Rwanda 2015, the biggest national beauty pageant in Rwanda that selects Rwandan ambassador for International pageants, concluded on February 22nd, 2015 with the crowning of 19-year-old Doriane Kundwa as Miss Rwanda 2015. Akiwacu Colombe Miss Rwanda 2014 crowned her successor Doriane Kundwa as Miss Rwanda 2015.The search for Miss Rwanda 2015 started in January with the organizing of auditions in all provinces. A total of 120 girls registered for the competition out of which only 15 delegates made it to the list of finalists. The Finale night started at 6:30 pm and was one great chain of celebration night with elite musical performances.
Doriane Kundwa, who was the public’s favourite from the beginning, competed with fourteen other finalists for the coveted crown. Doriane walked home with not just the crown, but with a brand new Suzuki SX4 and a contract providing monthly stipend of $1000, among other prizes. The event was bejewelled with the presence of some prominent judges including musician Intore Massamba, Kigali fashion Week founder John Bunyeshuli, fashion critic Blanche Majoro and former Miss East Africa, Cynthia Akazuba.
The Final was spiced up with three sessions of preliminary rounds, based on which the finalists were judged. The three rounds included – Cultural Knowledge round, Question and Answer round and Catwalk round. All the three sessions were flavoured with some melodious musical ambience and performances. At the end of the three tiers round, Doriane Kundwa, Fiona Ntaringwa, Balbine Mutoni, Vanessa Raissa Uwase and Lynca Akacu were announced as the Top 5 finalists respectively.
The top 5 further went through another question and answer round after which Doriane Kundwa emerged as the winner of Miss Rwanda 2015, followed by Vanessa Raissa Uwase who was crowned as the First Runner-up and Lynca Akacu crowned as the Second Runner-up. A series of Special Awards were also announced at the Finals, for the which the winners are –
