The 21 years old Gugulethu Banda, finalist of Miss South Africa 2015, hailing from Spruitview, Ekurhuleni is a student of BA Tourism Development at the University of Johannesburg. She also works as a part time Wing Team member for Redbull. Gugulethu loves to travel and tour, which defines her reason for opting Tourism Development. “I aspire to be a part of the South African tourism industry and be a business woman in that field. I want to contribute towards making South Africa’s tourism sector bigger than it already is. My other goal is to become Miss South Africa!” says Banda.

Banda lives with her mother, who works as a secretary at a company of attorneys. She loves spending time with her family and friends and during her spare time, likes to read magazines and listen to music. Banda is inspired by the aura of Basetsana Khumalo, a South African television personality, beauty pageant titleholder, businesswoman, and philanthropist. If given a chance, she would like to meet Basetsana and take notes as to how she got to where she is today. “She inspires me to work harder in order to be the woman I want to be” says Banda, talking about her muse, Basetsana Khumalo.

Gugulethu Banda is a very shy person by nature, but is the most notorious one once she gets comfortable with someone. Banda explains her reason behind the urge to win the title of Miss South Africa 2015 and says, “The reason I want to be Miss South Africa is because I strongly believe in beauty pageants being a representation of a woman’s inner and outer beauty. Miss South Africa should inspire and empower women, both young and old, as well as represent their country in the best possible way.  I could do exactly that if given the platform.

Finally she gives out a word of advice to the young girls who dream to chase a carrier in the similar field and says, “We are very privileged to have been given the ability, as well as the opportunities, to be exactly what we want to be. With that said anything is possible when you have a positive mind-set to match the capacity of your dreams.
