Miss Iraq 2017 Masty Hama Adel not to compete in Miss World?

Miss World Iraq 2017 no longer appears in the list of contestants on the official Miss World website. It seems that Iraq which was making its debut in Miss World this year will no longer compete in Miss World 2017. And apparently, it has to do with the ongoing tension in Iraq and its Kurdish region after the independence referendum for Iraqi Kurdistan was held on 25th September 2017.

Iraq's representative for Miss World 2017 was Masty Hama Adel Miss Iraq 2017, who is of Kurdish origin.

Masty was declared as Iraq's Maiden of Beauty (the first runner-up) in Miss Iraq 2017 pageant held on 25th May 2017. However, after the dethronement of Vian Sulaimani, the originally crowned winner, she became Miss Iraq 2017 and was all set to become the first ever beauty from Iraq to participate in Miss World pageant. Masty is an 18-year-old beauty who hails from Halabja.

Though there is no official statement by the Miss World organisation, the removal of her name from the list of official candidates on their website is clear indication of her not participating in Miss World 2017.
