Jacqueline Juntilla Marsh: From Miss Earth to Miss Universe?

12 Sep 2020 | Priya Bhardwaj

Miss Universe Canada organization recently revealed the delegates competing for the national crown and an opportunity to represent Canada at Miss Universe 2020. The 2020 edition has seen few of the most remarkable women taking a chance to win the national crown and one of them is Jacqueline Juntilla Marsh, an experienced pageant queen.

Hailing from Thunder Bay and standing 180 cm tall, Jacqueline began competing in pageants at the age of 18. Right at the start, Marsh won her first pageant Miss Thunder Bay in 2012. In 2017, she won Miss Earth Canada 2017 and represented Canada in Miss Earth in Manila, Philippines where she won a silver medal for her national costume.

A confident, determined, and compassionate young woman, Marsh grew up as an only child with two supportive parents: a Canadian father and Filipina mother who allowed her to pursue all of her passion. Jacqueline graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is employed full-time at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center as a registered nurse on a surgical floor.

Marsh advocates for the opportunity for less fortunate youth in her community to engage in recreation such as arts, sports, and culture. Jacqueline is also an active volunteer in her community as she teaches Filipino Cultural dancing for the Filipino Canadian Association of Thunder Bay youth and has performed at the Folklore Festival since the age of six.

Jacqueline has also volunteered with Positive Recreation Opportunities (P.R.O) for kids for the last seven years, which provides recreation to less fortunate children in Thunder Bay, and has recently completed her term as Chair on the board of directors.

The stunning beauty has also led her own youth projects in the Philippines. In 2017, she led a recycling mission in Ormoc City at Libertad Elementary School where she fundraised and purchased recycling receptacles for schools and educated the children on the importance of caring for the earth.

This year she fundraised for SOS Children’s Villages Cebu and held a lunch for the children and caretakers. She was also engaged in a collaboration between the Naga Department of Education and Red Tycoon Philippines to incorporate personality development and modeling into the curriculum. With her interest in science, her work in the medical field, her pageant experience and her stunning beauty, Marsh will definitely be a strong contender for the national crown and an even stronger delegate at an esteemed platform such as Miss Universe.
