Jolly Mutesi was crowned Miss Rwanda 2016 by the outgoing queen Doriane Kundwa during the finale, held at Camp Kigali on February 27' 2016. The 19 year old senior-six graduate from King David High School emerged as the clear winner for the beauty pageant, beating Peace Kwizera to the crown.
Mutesi said that during her reign as Miss Rwanda, she will focus on promoting domestic tourism, especially among the youth, by leveraging the touristic heritage, the country is gifted with.

The highlight of the night remained the biggest support of about 300 people who followed Sharifa Umuhoza from the Northern Province, storming the event in a convoy of several mini-buses in show of support.
At the same event, Jeanne Umutoni was crowned Miss Heritage Rwanda 2016 and will now represent Rwanda at the 2016 Miss Heritage pageant.
At the same event, Kwizera Peace Ndaruhutse was adjudged first runner-up, Vanessa Mpogazi was titled second runner-up, Marie d’Amour Rangira was named third runner-up, while Sharifa Umuhoza finished as fourth runner-up.
