Latafale Auva’a decided to travel to China to compete at the Miss World pageant despite being told otherwise by the Prime Minister of Samoa. The PM of Samoa, Sa’ilele Malielegaoi had asked Latafale to go to the regional pageant. But, she went ahead with her journey to the Miss World and said that it’s a chance to showcase Samoa internationally.
“It’s a great way to promote what we as Samoan woman can do and can achieve,” said Miss Auva’a. However, this behaviour of Auva’a disturbed Mr Tuilaepa as he busted out in anger and stated, "Auva’a needs to get her priorities straight”.
22 years old Latafale was expected to attend the Pacific Islands pageant to be held in the Cook Islands next month, and at the same time was also required to be in China a month before December 19 to attend the Miss World pageant.

However, earlier this month the PM of Samoa, Mr Tuilaepa, told the Samoa Observer that all Ms Auva’a will get on the world stage is embarrassment. “To jump onto the world stage is wanting too much… it is common practice for us to leave what we are capable of and to reach for something that we are nowhere near accomplishing,” was Tuilaepa’s statement.
First time in 27 years, Miss Samoa was to make its presence at the Miss World 2015 pageant. As reported by the New Zealand Herald, the reigning Miss Samoa & Miss Pacific Islands (South Pacific), Latafale Auva'a, was selected by national director, Te'eva Matafai, to represent Samoa in Miss World 2015. However, after going through all this, it seems like Samoa was not ready to send a representative to Miss World. What’s going to happen next, is what we would want to see. What do you think? What is your opinion on the whole agenda?
