Mallory Hagan seeking run for Congress as a Democrat

31 Jan 2018 | Angelique Reyes

Mallory Hagan is a highly regarded name in the world of pageantry and why not, her list of winning pageants is endless. She was crowned Miss America in 2013 and Miss New York 2012. She was also Miss New York City 2012, Miss Manhattan 2011, Miss Brooklyn 2010 and a two-time Miss New York first runner-up.

Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, as recent news stated, is exploring a run for Congress as a Democrat from the eastern part of Alabama. The seat is currently occupied by Republican Mike Rogers, who has been holding the office for 16 years.

Mallory accredits her decision to run for Congress to the recent controversy. She was the centre of attention of an email scandal from the Miss America Organization Board of Directors where these high ranking people had passed derogatory comments about the appearance and personal lives of former Miss America winners.

It was a painful experience, but it taught me a lot about the power of my voice. By telling my story, by petitioning for change, and by demanding resolution— I ignited a spark that fueled women - AND men -  across this country to stand up, speak out, and believe that when people share their stories, change can occur. I told my story. It was difficult, but it sparked meaningful change. This experience transformed me.” Hagan said on crowdpac.com, a crowd-funding site for politicians.

Mallory has already raised half the contributions required to run for the seat. If she qualifies to run, it is going to be a huge achievement for the beautiful diva who has always promoted awareness for social causes that need immediate attention. Her congressional platforms include gender equality, education, jobs and environmental sustainability.

Well, we are way too excited to see how this opportunity works out for our beauty queen. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
