Jana Radulovic was crowned Miss Earth Serbia 2020 at the coronation ceremony held on 23rd August 2020 and became the official representative of Serbia at Miss Earth 2020. Jana is 20 years of age and stands is a student at the Faculty of Economics. She was also announced Miss Photogenic Europe 2020. Jana is not new to the world of pageantry as she was Miss Serbia Tourism World 2018 and represented the country at Miss Tourism World 2018 and was appreciated for her performance.
As Jana prepares for her international stint, she took some time out to talk about her dreams, goals, advocacy, guilty pleasures and more in an exclusive interview with Angelopedia –
Q. How does it feel to be Miss Earth Serbia 2020 and now a delegate of first virtual edition of Miss Earth 2020?
The feeling is fantastic. I am very happy and proud, and it is a great honor for me to represent my country at such a big competition as Miss Earth. At the same time, I feel a great responsibility and I will do my best to represent myself and Serbia as best I can.
Q. What do you think about Miss Earth hosting a virtual edition amidst the coronavirus pandemic?
On the one hand, I am very sorry that I will not have the opportunity to feel the charm of the competition in its original edition, that I will not meet my Earth sisters and travel to the Philippines. But, on the other hand, I think that this was an ideal solution, and that we will have the opportunity to participate for the first time in such an important project as online competition, and that we will have the opportunity to show our creativity and resourcefulness in achieving good results, even in a extraordinary circumstances and to show people that in spite of everything, we must learn to function and continue living. Also, we will have the opportunity to show others our country through pictures and videos, and at the same time we will do it all surrounded by our family and friends, which is very wonderful.
Q. Would you like to tell us something about your advocacy?
My advocacy is to protect water and natural springs and rivers. I think that is very important, considering that water is the basic source of life, it is important to keep it clean and healthy, and to prevent its destruction due to the construction of hydroelectric power plants and factories that drain and pollute our rivers.
Q. What inspired you to the world of pageantry?
Like every little girl, I always dreamed about it, and wanted to wear beautiful dresses, makeup and a crown, but now that i am grown up , for me the Miss pageant is much more than just beauty and a crown. Especially when it comes to this pageant , I saw in it a very good opportunity, that in addition to a beautiful life experience and new friendships that I consider the most beautiful part of the competition, we can do something useful and give our contribution to important things.
Q. Who is your role model, if any, and what values of his or her do you wish you could inculcate in your own life, and teach the next generation?
My role model is my mom. I consider her a very brave woman, who, despite all the bad things we went through together after my father's death, managed to give me a lot of attention, love, tenderness and support in all aspects of my life. Without her I would never have become all that I am today. She taught me to be a good person, to walk through life bravely, to never give up on my dreams, but also to work on them thoroughly and persistently, to understand and respect other people's differences and to love and preserve nature and the living world in it. I would be happy if I could pass on at least a part of everything she taught me to the next generation, because I think that everyone in life should have someone like my mother in order to understand and appreciate life and the true values in it.
Q. What is the one thing that keeps you going and inspires you to be the best version of yourself?
What inspires me and motivates me to keep going is love. I believe that love is the basis of everything in the world, and that without love and faith we would not succeed. Also everything I do in life I do to be proud and happy with myself and to make proud people who love me and believe in me.
Q. Would you like to share your most special childhood memory with us?
I really can't single out just one. My childhood was beautiful, carefree and happy, especially while my father was still alive, and I am happy and grateful for every moment spent with my family.
Q. If you could be invisible for a day, how would you like to spend it?
If I were invisible one day, I would do my best to make people happy and help them by doing something they need then.
Q. What is the one thing you can label as your guilty pleasure?
Considering that I am now Miss Earth Serbia and that I have to take care of my beauty and physical appearance, my guilty pleasure is definitely sweets.
Q. We’re sure that this competition is another milestone in your life. What is that one thing that you ultimately want to achieve?
Miss Earth will definitely be one of the experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life, and what I would like to achieve is to represent my country in the best way and win another title, but I also hope that my media appearances as Miss Earth Serbia will at least to raise people's awareness a little about the protection of the environment and our planet. Also, I would like to show that Missies are not only beautiful, but also capable, intelligent and strong women who can change the world.
Q. If you are granted three wishes right now, what would you ask for?
Only one is enough. I would wish all good and well-intentioned wishes to come true for all good people, and in that way everyone would be happy.
Q. Lastly, is there any message that you would like to give to your fans of Angelopedia?
In such difficult times during COVID-19 I can only say, beware. Stay safe, cherish every moment, love your loved ones and always believe in the good, and of course, keep following Angelopedia and our road to Miss Earth 2020.
