Ashleigh Wild was crowned Miss Grand England 2019 a few weeks ago as she began her preparations for competing in Miss Grand International 2019 to be held in Venezuela. But a day ago, she took to her official social media as she renounced her participation in the international contest citing political situation of the host country.

She wrote, “I am extremely saddened to announce that I will no longer be representing England at the Miss Grand International finals in Venezuela this October. After meetings and much correspondence with my sister queens and our director, Holly, we have come to the mutual decision that given the current political situation in the country; the best decision to ensure our safety would be to withdraw from the final, based on it being held in Venezuela.”

The decision by the beauty queen was not made lightly as she took into consideration the safety issues. She continued, “Unfortunately, we feel that there are threats that no amount of security, given by the International organisation, can protect from.”

Despite being unable to represent her country in Miss Grand International 2019, Ashleigh is still looking forward to all that the year is going to bring for her and will continue to use her title actively with local and wider communities. She ended her post saying, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Holly, at Pageant Girl Ltd, for being so incredible in keeping us updated (almost daily) and being such a support in listening to our concerns since our crowning. We are heartbroken, but ultimately we are safe and we can't wait to see where this new journey leads.”
