The Official Welcome and Press Conference of Miss Grand International 2015 was held in Central World in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district yesterday, on October 7. The more than eighty (80) candidates were all presented and introduced to the invited members of the media.
The event started with the introduction of the contestants. The contestants of MGI 2015 made their first public appearance and introduced themselves in front of the media.
The event had the presence of the reigning beauty queens, Miss Grand International 2014 Lees Garcia; Miss Grand Thailand 2014 Parapadsorn “Pla” Disdamrong (Vice-Miss Supranational 2014 and Top 10 Miss Grand 2014); Miss Intercontinental 2014 winner Patharaporn Wang, and Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International winner Ploy Wutthayakorn.
After the contestant introduction got over, the reigning Miss Grand International Lees Garcia took her walk on the stage looking like an absolute dream in a white lacey gown. Reminiscing her experience as the queen, Lees explains – “I want to share with all the fans and everybody that follows us, that today marks the crowning exactly one year, since I became Miss Grand International 2014.”
She further adds – “I think the most important part about me winning is not only that I felt like the luckiest girl in the world every day, but I know that I had to work very hard for the ‘Stop-The-War-Campaign’.”
She then shared the best part about the Miss Grand International pageant, that segregates it from the rest of the pageant – “What makes it special being Miss Grand International is not only that we’re beauty queens, but we’ve to help the refugees of war. So we’re able to travel to Syria (border, Syrian turkey), and help the refugees of war there.” – she said.
“Many people say that one person can’t stop the war, but we really believe that with every action that we do, we’ve helped the cause, and we make sure that we spread the message not only with that just one person, but with all these beautiful ladies that are right here and supporting the ‘stop-the-war-campaign’.” – she explained.
With the participation of more than 80 beauties from around the world. Miss Grand International, which entered the “Grand Slam of Beauty Pageants” last year, will be telecast live on Channel 7 with a simultaneous webcast on the internet.
By summing up her speech, Lees Garcia the MGI 2014, bestowed some tips and suggestions to the contestants, she says - “Besides being what it makes to be a beauty queen, which is grace and beauty and poise, to be brave, and to be ready, and to be enthusiastic, and feel your heart become everyday is not only to be beautiful, but make sure that you spread your beauty to everyone around you.”
The event concluded with a photo-session segment, in which all the participants were invited on stage for a group photo session.
