Former Miss Utah USA, Rachel Slawson, made history at Miss USA as she competed as the first ever open LGBTQ+ contestant three years ago. Now, she is back to try her luck again as she has been designated Miss Grand New York 2023 and will represent her state at Miss Grand International 2023.
Rachel is a SAG-Eligible Actress, screenwriter, mental health keynote speaker, personal branding expert and empowerment coach. Rachel is a classically trained actress and studies with premier acting coaches including Ivana Chubbock, Howard Fine, Anthony Meindl, and Killian, and is an experienced Improv Comedian from UCB.
In her most recent project, Rachel brought LGBTQ+ representation to her role of Clara in ‘Getting Her.’ Rachel has ten years of public speaking experience, including the TED stage. She has spoken for schools, corporations, non-profits, festivals, including Imagine Dragons' LoveLoud Festival, and has spoken at the Utah State Capitol to advocate for mental health.
Rachel’s Podcast ‘Feelings Are Human’ is all set to launch in 2023. Rachel has been the face of a national campaign for BMW, has walked in NYFW and Miami Swim Week. As an advocate for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, she spoke at the Utah State Capitol to help Utah become the 19th state to ban conversion therapy. She also serves as a board member for LoveLoud and has helped raise 1 million dollars for ONE-N-TEN, preventing youth homelessness, which Rachel personally overcame.
Rachel studied screenwriting at New York Film Academy, and sold her first script in 2020, the film adaptation of a NYT bestseller currently in development. She also had her production debut as a producer on Khanlarian Entertainment's "The Ghost Trap," and works on an ongoing basis as an assistant producer with Filmtrax.
With all of her strong accomplishments, Rachel will surely be a strong contender for the Miss Grand United States 2023 crown and if she wins, she will be able to represent USA at Miss Grand International 2023 which will be held in October in Vietnam.
