In an unfortunate turn of events, Miss Intercontinental Australia 2023 Melany Wells has withdrawn her participation at Miss Intercontinental 2023. Miss Intercontinental Australia organization announced the decision through their official social media today, i.e. 29th November 2023.

Melany Wells was due to leave for her international journey to compete at the Miss Intercontinental final to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt this month. The organization also announced that, unfortunately, due to circumstances out of their control and following the Australian government travel advice, they have had to make the heart wrenching decision to not send Melany to the Miss Intercontinental.

“With the current unrest in Neighboring country Gaza the Miss Intercontinental Australia team, Miss Australia Pageants team, family and friends decided, following the Australian governments advice that sending Melany to South Sinai was a risk we were not prepared to make.”

“While we are devastated that Melany will not be attending the 2023 Miss Intercontinental Final we look forward to her representing Australia at the 2024 Miss Intercontinental Final. We wish the entire Miss Intercontinental Organization all the best, we will be cheering all their incredible contestants from afar this year and look forward to joining them again next year”, they added.

Miss Intercontinental 2023, the 51st edition of the international pageant, will be held on 15th December 2023 in Egypt where Miss Intercontinental 2022 Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc from Vietnam will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
