Beauty Talks with Miss International Belize 2019 Selena Urias

Selena Urias is all set to represent Belize in Miss International 2019 as she was appointed by Mr. Enrique De Leon, the national director of Belize for Miss International. Belize is all set to make a comeback in Miss International.

A native of Belize City, Selena Urias is a fitness and travel enthusiast. Selena holds a degree in Business Administration. She is also not new to the pageantry as she was a part of Miss Universe Belize 2018 and ended up being the fourth runner-up. Later, she represented Belize at Reina Hispanomericana 2018 in Bolivia and then also at Reina del Tropico 2018 in Honduras.

Here she is, talking about her dreams, advocacies and passions in an exclusive interview with Angelopedia –

Q. How does it feel to be Miss International Belize 2019 and now a delegate of Miss International 2019?

A. It is an incredible feeling to be Belize’s Ambassador at Miss International Pageant.  The emotions are high duly because of a sense of rewarding.  I always dreamed to represent my country on an international stage.

Q. What inspired you to the world of pageantry?

A. The biggest inspiration to the world of pageantry is the Love that I have for my country. Former beauty queens from Belize have inspired me to become who I am.  The platforms that we as beauty queens create, inspire others and strengthens my passion to become a better person every day.

Q. How would you like to represent yourself at the international stage of Miss International 2019?

A. Representing myself at the International Stage comes with a heavy responsibility as I am representing my Country, Its People and Culture.  I want to be me, be the Belizean Beauty Ambassador that can empower young women across the world, embrace and accept their flaws and live life to the fullest but with a purpose.

Q. Who is your role model, if any, and what values of his or her do you wish you could inculcate in your own life, and teach the next generation?

A. My Mother is and will be my Role Model for the rest of my life.  She is deceased now, but her legacy continues as long as I shall live.  Her biggest Values as a hardworking, single parent was Compassion, Hope and Respect. Despite race, gender, religion and beliefs my mother always instilled in us to Care for others. “No matter how difficult things can be, always keep Hope before fear”, she said. Something good will come along. But the biggest value I live by is Respect. We are all different, yet we are all the same in the sense we want to be respected for how we think and believe. When we show the proper respect we are not only validating the other person’s dignity, we are also enhancing our own.

Q. What or who empowers you to be yourself and work hard every day?

A. My Siblings are my motivation every single day. ( I have a younger brother and sister I care for). They are a constant reminder of who I am for them and that sparks the strength to work harder, become stronger and most importantly become a better person every day so that I can provide for them in every way.

Q. What is the one thing you can label as your guilty pleasure?

Every girl’s dream – Going on a Shopping Binge.  Without a doubt, shopping is my guilty pleasure, whether is right or wrong – itself gratifying  especially when you have worked hard for it !

Q. What is the one thing that keeps you going and inspires you to be the best version of yourself?

A. Being the best person of me is simply reminding me of the reality of fearing for failure. It’s an inspirational factor but also a constant reminder to do my best and become the best version of myself.

Q. Would you like to share your most special childhood memory with us?

A. People have always said, you don’t realize it until its gone.  What a way of understanding the power of words!  My special childhood memories were being able to spend quality time with my mother at her work after school.

Q. If you could be invisible for a day, how would you like to spend it?

A. Being invisible for one day is definitely out of this world, however, it’s very intriguing. I would definitely would want to sit at every restaurant, eat anything and everything without feeling guilty since others would not be able to see me. (ha ha)

Q. We’re sure that this competition is another milestone in your life. What is that one thing that you ultimately want to achieve?

A. Ultimately, I would like to complete my college degree that is in a hiatus to help my siblings achieve theirs.  I feel that it is important for my siblings to complete their education as well. It would be selfish of depriving them from this privilege.

Q. If you are granted three wishes right now, what would you ask for?

If I was granted three wishes, I would ask for Wisdom, Love and a Big Family!

Q. Lastly, is there any message that you would like to give to your fans of Angelopedia?

A. I would like to thank every single fan in Angelopedia.  Each and Every beauty ambassador looks forward receiving the love and respect of fans.  I must admit that it has been overwhelming and I am humbled by the hundreds of messages sent in my social pages.  I can attest to you the love I have for my Country (BELIZE) and I am honored to carry a FLAG of the land of my birth.  Belize is a small country but with people with big hearts.  I hope that my participation at Miss International Pageant inspires young and old to be the best they can be, but always remembering where you come from and be proud of that. Thank you Angelopedia and Fans. God Bless!
