Kim Soo Min crowned Miss Korea 2018

Miss Korea 2018 came to conclusion at the coronation night of the pageant on 4th July 2018 at Jamsil Olympic Hall. The pageant was hosted by Hankook Ilbo, the sister paper of The Korea Times and Hankook Ilbo E&B. as the finale came to an end, Miss Korea 2017 Hannah Lee crowned her successor Miss Korea 2018 Kim Soo Min. Kim will now go on to represent Korea at the Miss Earth 2018 pageant later this year.

The pageant saw 32 contestants fighting for the chance to be crowned Miss Korea 2018. The preliminaries had resulted in 50 contestants from all over Korea, who were then shortlisted to 32 contestants who went on stage at the finale. The MCs for the finale were Comedian Park Soo-hong, and singer Yura of the popular K-pop girl band Girl's Day. The judges panel was headed by actress and Miss Korea 1988 Kim Sung-ryung.

A 23-year-old and standing tall at a height of 173.4 cm, Kim currently weighs 58.9 kg according to the Miss Korea official website. With a degree from Dickinson University International Business, Kim hopes to become an international reporter someday. The beauty queen enjoys singing, vocal simulation, and has a fondness for foreign languages. Her resolution in life is to ‘Just be yourself.’

Kim’s prize package includes 100 million ($90,000) in prize money, while the first and second runners-up will get 30 million, and 20 million respectively. The first runners-up were Seo Ye-jin, and Song Su-hyun, while Bak Che-won, Kim Kye-ryung, Lee Yun-ji, and Lim Kyeong-min were adjudged the 2nd runners-up.

The Miss Korea 2018 pageant doesn’t just crown the Miss Earth Korea 2018. It will also be appointing two of the runners-up to the Miss Universe Korea 2018, and Miss International Korea 2018 titles. The representatives selected here on, will represent Korea at the Miss Universe 2018, and Miss International 2018 pageants.
