At the same pageant, Romilly Mouton was titled as the 1st runner up and Tessia Mutwamezi was adjudged the 2nd runner up. The first Miss Namibia pageant was held in the year 1980. In 1991, Namibia achieved its first major success when Michelle McLean placed as the 4th runner-up at Miss World 1991 and later won the Miss Universe 1992 title. The only placement of Namibia in Miss Universe after Michelle was achieved by Ndapewa Alfons, Miss Namibia 2002 who was placed Top 10 at Miss Universe 2003.
