Miss Earth United States 2018 is all set to organize its grand finale on 14th July 2018 where delegates from all over the States will compete for the national crown. Andreia Gibau, the reigning Miss Earth United States, will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

But before that, here we have Miss North Carolina Earth United States 2018 Madison McGee sharing her experience and journey of becoming the national delegate of Miss Earth United States 2018 in an exclusive interview with Angelopedia.

1. How does it feel to be the winner of Miss North Carolina Earth United States 2018 and a delegate of Miss Earth United States 2018?

I feel so incredibly blessed to be Miss North Carolina Earth 2018. I am honored as a collegiate soccer player to represent athletic women all across the country on the Miss Earth United States stage in July. To say I am excited for this amazing opportunity would be an understatement!

2. What is the best lesson you’ve learned in your journey as the delegate of Miss Earth United States 2018?

The best lesson I have learned in my journey so far as Miss North Carolina Earth 2018 is that actions do matter. When I spoke to fifth graders about the importance of recycling, I had a boy ask me if it really made a difference whether he recycled and took actions to keep our Earth clean since he was only in fifth grade. My answer was yes because even if we only have one fifth grade boy taking action, it is bound to start a chain reaction in others. Everyone’s actions contribute to something so much greater than ourselves.

3. What is the one thing that keeps you going and inspires you to be the best version of yourself?

One thing that inspires me to be the best version of myself would definitely be my family. They have always supported me in everything that I have done in my life, and I would not be where I am today without them. I am so grateful to have been blessed with the best family ever.

4. We would love to know more about your advocacy to save the Planet Earth and what drove you to choose it?

My advocacy is “Plant the seeds, Save the trees.” I focus on replenishing the trees in the environment because while trees give us many important resources like paper for books and lumber for homes, it is so important to make sure we put back what we take. I not only want to plant tree seedlings, but I want to plant seeds of encouragement in people about environmental issues. I hope that those people will then plant seeds of encouragement in people that they meet, and we will have hundreds of new Earth warriors! I chose this platform because I grew up playing soccer outside and developed an appreciation for shade trees on hot, sunny days.  There never seemed to be enough at parks.

5. How would you like to represent yourself at the national stage of Miss Earth United States 2018?

I would like to represent myself gracefully on the Miss Earth United States stage. I hope that my dedication and passion for making a difference for the Earth will shine.

6. Who is your ideal, if any and what values of theirs do you wish you could inculcate in your own life and teach the next generation?

My idol would have to be my late grandma, Sandy McGee. She was always able to find the humor in any situation and accepted people for who they truly were. My grandmother found the joy in every obstacle that life threw her way. I hope that I can inculcate her kindness and compassion for people into my own life. Also, I hope to teach the next generation to always find the joy and humor in life despite the trials they may face, just like my grandmother did.

7.  If you could be invisible for a day, how would you like to spend it?

If I could be invisible for a day, I would definitely take a rocket to the moon. Only a handful of people get to see Earth from space, and I think it would be absolutely amazing.

8. Would you like to share your most special childhood memory with us?

My most special childhood memory would have to be making homemade macaroni and cheese with my grandmother. She would let me stand on a stool at the stove with her and stir the macaroni until I got tired. She was so patient with me. It is a favorite memory of mine because she taught me at a very young age how to cook and who doesn’t love macaroni and cheese!

9. What or who empowers you to be yourself and work hard every day?

My parents and family empower me to be myself and work hard every day. They encourage me to be my absolute best no matter what the task, and I could never thank them enough. Through their constant support in good times and bad, I was able to pursue my goal of playing collegiate soccer. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents and siblings, and I seek to make them proud.

10. What is the one thing you can label as your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure would definitely be chocolate ice cream. I could eat chocolate ice cream every day!

11. We’re sure that this competition is another milestone in your life. What is that one thing that you ultimately want to achieve?

One thing I ultimately want to achieve from the pageant is to grow as a person and make new friends. Outside of the pageant, I want to graduate college with a degree in Accounting and start working my way up to being a CEO of a major bank. I want to live a life that I can look back on and have no regrets.

12. If you are granted 3 wishes right now, what would you ask for?

If I had 3 wishes, I would first wish for a cure for cancer. Then, I would wish for the ability to read people’s minds. My third wish would be to end world hunger.

 13. Lastly, is there any message that you would like to give to your fans of Angelopedia?

I would like to first thank Angelopedia for giving me this opportunity. My message to fans would be to have the courage to pursue new adventures that push you out of your comfort zone. It is when you are pushed out of your comfort zone that you grow into the person you are meant to be!
