Miss South Africa 2023 Top 12 Finalists – Ané Oosthuysen

Miss South Africa organization, through their official social media, announced the Top 12 finalists who have moved on to compete at the final leg of the competition as the finale will be held on 13th August 2023. The winner will go on to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2023 and/or Miss Supranational 2024.

In a series of features, lets know more about the Top 12 finalists which consists of stunning and talented beauties. Ané Oosthuysen is 25 years of age and hails from Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng. Not new to the pageantry, Ane previously held the title of Miss Vaal 2019/2020. After that, she also competed in Miss South Africa 2021 where she placed in the Top 30.

Ane is a fourth-time graduate from the North-West University, holding a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology, an honours degree in psychology, an honours degree in medical sociology and a postgraduate teaching qualification. She also recently completed an online teaching course to teach English as a foreign language. Currently, Ane is a primary school teacher and aspires to further her studies and become an educational psychologist.

Ane, through the powerful platform of Miss South Africa, wants to educate and empower the youth of South Africa on a much larger scale than she is doing right now. “Growing up, I faced challenges related to bullying and not feeling adequate enough – specifically, being bullied about my height. Being one of the tallest people in school was extremely tough, and as a result, I would constantly slouch and try to make myself smaller so that I could fit in”, she quoted.

Therefore, her mission would be to visit as many schools as possible and talk about her struggles and give the learners actionable steps and resources to deal with bullying and other related issues. She also wishes to set up a foundation which would focus on the children and give them, as well as teachers and parents, actionable tools and resources to help work through bullying and help in following their dreams and aspirations. She is definitely a strong contender for the crown this year!
