Miss South Africa 2023 Top 12 Finalists – Lungo Katete

Miss South Africa organization, through their official social media, announced the Top 12 finalists who have moved on to compete at the final leg of the competition as the finale will be held on 13th August 2023. The winner will go on to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2023 and/or Miss Supranational 2024.

In a series of features, lets know more about the Top 12 finalists which consists of stunning and talented beauties. Lungo Katete, representing the Gauteng province, was the public vote winner as she made it to the Top 12 list.

Lungo is 26 years of age and hails from Midrand. She holds a master's degree in architecture from Wits University and works as a candidate architect for Kamo Architects. Not new to the pageantry, Lungo represented South Africa at Miss Earth 2020 and placed in Top 20.

Lungo said she was inspired to enter Miss South Africa because of the impact and the legacy that previous queens left behind. "I believe I should be the next Miss South Africa because, for me, it is not just about wearing a crown, but about using that crown to make a difference to the lives of others and influence a change. For me, the most important part of a beauty pageant is the ability to serve," she said.

For her, being a woman is more than just a title, labels and traditionally assigned roles. "We can influence, empower, lead and leave a legacy regardless of the roles or labels we have in today's society," she said. Her message to young females is to never give up on your dreams and never let anyone tell you that you are not capable of achieving your goals. Lungo will definitely be a strong contender for the national crown.
