Megan Gordon crowned as Miss South Carolina USA 2017

23 years old Megan Gordon, a native of North Augusta, was crowned Miss South Carolina USA 2017 on November 19, 2016 at North Charleston Performing Arts Center, North Charleston, South Carolina. Leah Lawson Miss South Carolina USA 2016 crowned Megan as her successor and she will now have the opportunity to represent her state at Miss USA 2017, wherein Deshauna Barber of District of Columbia will pass on her crown to her successor.
 
South Carolina is one of the most successful states and has produced various runner-ups and semi-finalist. The state has produced three Miss USA winners so far in the Miss USA pageant. Miriam Stevenson Miss USA 1954 and Miss Universe 1954, Shawn Weatherly Miss USA 1980 who also went on to win Miss Universe 1980 crown and Lu Parker Miss USA 1994 who managed top 6 placements at Miss Universe 1994 edition.

Megan Gordon began her pageant career at the age of fourteen and appreciates all that she has learned throughout the years. Megan holds several titles including Miss Collegiate America 2014 and Miss Southeast. Megan was named Distinguished Young Woman of South Carolina in 2012.
 
Modeling doors have been always opened to her allowing her to be featured in several magazines and working with amazing companies, through pageantry.
 
Gordon loves travelling and having traveled to beautiful places like Canada, Venice, Rome and India, the lady now looks forward to where her travels will take her throughout the beautiful state of South Carolina during her reign.
 
Megan realized her purpose was to serve others and be a voice for those who are in need while she was in school. Gordon’s love for children drove her to specialize in Pediatric nursing where she is an advocate for the children suffering with cancer and blood disorders.
 
The beauty queen has volunteered with several organizations that aid in helping children and their families such as SAFE Kids, Light the Night and the Ronald McDonald house!
 
Megan’s motto is to simply “have faith, work hard and always remain true to yourself; everything else will fall into place.”
 
Becoming Miss South Carolina USA has been a dream come true for her and she’s looking forward to sharing her insight with other young girls looking to make their dreams become a reality as well!
