The delegates who have represented Indonesia at the stage of Miss Supranational have always been appreciated for their stellar performance and intelligence. The delegates not only perform exceedingly well during the competition but also showcase their culture, tradition and values to the people and judges in an apt way. The delegates’ brilliant performance has always paid off well as they have been placing at the top position consistently since 2016. They start to prepare for the finale months ago and their hard work shows on-stage.
In 2018 and 2019, the delegates of Indonesia gave their best shot and were placed as 3rd runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively. The question that arises now is can Indonesia maintain its placement streak or even win the crown in Miss Supranational 2020?
In 2016, Intan Aletrino represented Indonesia at the Miss Supranational 2016 stage where she was placed at the Top 10 and received 'Miss Multimedia’ and ‘Miss Elegance’ awards. According to the diva, one of the important purposes of being Puteri Indonesia is to be an avid advocate in promoting Indonesian tourism and educating about its rich cultures, traditions and tourism to the world. She strongly believes Indonesia has rich culture with bountiful natural resources, creative knowledge, talented local designers and a booming fashion industry. She was appreciated for her performance on-stage and hence was placed at Top 10.
Next year, in 2017, Karina Nadila represented Indonesia at Miss Supranational 2017 where she placed in Top 25. Karina was recognized as one of the strong contenders for the title but unfortunately couldn’t make it as the winner. Before joining the beauty pageant, she was first known as a film actor. She is a hardworking diva and was dedicated to win the title. Even though she couldn’t win the title, she was appreciated by the audience and the judges for being true to her nature and country’s culture and hence was placed at top 25.
Maintaining the streak, Wilda Octaviana Situngkir was adjudged the position of 3rd runner-up in Miss Supranational 2018. The diva also received various other titles including Supra Model of Asia 2018, Best National Costume 2018, and Winner of Global Beauties 2018. Wilda managed to attract the attention of the jury and the audience. She explained during the pageant that, “We have a chance to show the world our diversities through our natural beauties and grace. We are competing for one goal but still we are making new link of international sisterhoods.”
In 2019, Jesica Fitriana Martasari represented Indonesia at Miss Supranational 2019 where she was placed as the 2nd runner-up. Jesica was considered as the underdog but she outshined everyone and emerged as one of the strongest contenders and won as the second-runner-up. She had been a victim of abuse because of disproportionate body weight and worked hard to be confident on stage and overcome all the obstacles. The obstacles experienced did not dampen her determination by providing the best process.
These beautiful, confident and strong women have outshined on the stage of Miss Supranational since 2016 and with their hard work and determination have been placing at top positions of the beauty pageants. Can Miss Supranational 2020 Jihane Almira Chedid maintain the streak of being placed at top positions or she will win the crown for Indonesia this year? Jihane is strong, popular and very confident. She has stayed positive and welcomed the changes in her life with open arms because she wanted to work on herself to be better every day. She wants to be a true beauty queen and Miss Supranational 2020 will be her chance to make her country proud once again.
