The 12th edition of Miss Supranational, i.e., Miss Supranational 2021 is all set to be held on 21st August 2021 at Strzelecki Park Amphitheater, Nowy Sacz, Malopolska where Miss Supranational 2019 Anntonia Porsild of Thailand will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

While the delegates have already arrived and the pageant has officially started today, another diva has revealed her stunning national costume for the preliminary competition at the 12th Miss Supranational pageant. Miss Supranational Sweden Jacqueline Rybak has unveiled her official national costume, ‘Midsummer’ designed and created by Zäta designs and the talented Anneli Zamlynska. The flower wreath is created by HALO by Viveka Gren.

Making the big reveal through a social media post she wrote, “This amazing creation is our way to honor The Swedish Midsummer. I am beyond proud to wear this beautiful national costume on the Supranational stage this year! The dress is made with only reused fabrics and decorations. Creating something from recycled materials feels very relevant in our time.”

The headgear or the flower wreath represents what all girls wear during Midsummer. The wreath is also reused. The flowers represent the Swedish summer, when the snow white country turns into full bloom. It also stands for the flowers that Swedish decorate the midsummer pole with and the 7 different flowers they put under their pillow.

Midsummer is one of the most celebrated days of the year, and everything closes down on Midsummer day. Nowadays, many celebrate Midsummer in Sweden because the summer is there and it has become a folk tradition with dancing and party. “For a non-swede, these songs and dances probably don’t make much sense, and to be honest, for most Swedes they probably don’t either, but these are songs that we sing and dance since we’re little children, and there is no real midsummer celebration without ‘the little frogs’ dance and song,” she added.

It’s a tradition that girls and women wear a midsummer wreath on midsummer eve. Most make these themselves by binding flowers and leaves around a steel thread. It’s also a traditional holiday that goes back for centuries. It included the raising of a Maypole, Midsummer food, dancing and various games for the whole family, or adults only. Almost every Swede will have a schnapps or two accompanied with the food. According to the legend, all girls should pluck seven kinds of flowers and put them under their sleeping pillow on Midsummer Eve. If they do this, it is said that they will dream about the person they will marry.
