Halima Kopwe from Mtwara was crowned Miss World Tanzania 2022 at the national final held on 20th May last year at Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam. Ever since her coronation, Halima has been preparing to represent Tanzania at Miss World 2023.

Halima Kopwe is 23 years of age and hails from Mtwara, Tanzania. Before competing and winning at Miss Tanzania 2022, she was runner-up to Miss Eastern Zone 2021 Emmanuela Silayo. She is a mother and child advocate.

The advocacy includes being part of the ‘Together We Give’ campaign with the Mirakel Foundation which focuses on helping children with hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluid in the brain which left untreated can be fatal.

Halima’s Beauty with a Purpose project ‘My Blood My Generation’ focuses on reducing maternal and child mortality rates. Halima realized that loss of excess blood (post-partum haemorrhage) is a major cause of maternal deaths. A big part of her project has been campaigning for more blood donors and Halima has been working with different organizations such as the National Blood Donation Centre for the same.

Ever since its participation in Miss World, Tanzania has failed to win a placement at the international competition except in 2005 where Nancy Sumari was placed in Top 6 and was adjudged Miss World Africa. Halima succeeds Miss World Tanzania 2021 Juliana Rugumisa for the crown.
