The splendid finale of Miss Teen USA 2016 held on July 30’ 2016 at The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas concluded with the crowning of 18 years old beautiful girl named Karlie Hay. Karlie succeeds Miss Teen USA 2015 Katherine Haik.

Karlie astonished the judges with her smart and quick responses and her amazing presence of mind. She performed with utter grace and phenomenally well during the nerve-wracking Q&A session. During the Q&A round, the country singer and judge Savannah Keyes asked Hay what the soon-to-be elected U.S. president should focus on with teenagers like herself. To which the 18 years old beauty answered, “Peer pressure, hands down. The next president needs to confront this issue and tell teens that you need to be yourself and be a leader and, of course, the next Miss Teen USA needs to be a leader.”

The beauty queen further plans on attending Texas A&M University to study business.

Karlie Hay Miss Teen USA 2016

Karlie shared her joy and excitement with her friends and followers via her Instagram account, “Woke up this morning as Miss Texas Teen USA and going to sleep as Miss Teen USA. Dreams really do come true,” she captioned the pic of herself relaxing in bed with her crown and sash on.

At the same event, Miss North Carolina Emily Wakeman was adjudged first runner-up and Miss South Carolina Marley Stokes was titled second runner-up. A total of 51 contestants competed for the coveted title through various rounds, including the athletic wear and evening gown round. This year’s pageant was the first to eliminate the swimsuit category after organizers faced criticism for exploiting and sexualizing teenage women and failing to promote diverse body types.

Miss USA 2015, Olivia Jordan and Cody Johns hosted the Miss Teen USA 2016 competition. Karlie will now become the spokesperson for various charitable causes on behalf of The Miss Universe Organization.
