Miss USA 2010, Rima Fakih has finally tied the knot in Beirut, Lebanon to music producer Wassim Salibi on Sunday, May 15’ 2016.

The star-studded ceremony included attendance by R&B singer The Weeknd (Lebanon band), Rapper French Montana and Lebanese Singers Haifa Wehbi and Wael Kfoury.

Rima Fakih, the first Muslim woman to have won the title of Miss USA in 2010, has converted her religion to Christianity. The Ex-Shia, Rima Fakih has officially converted her religion to Christianity in April 2016, ahead of tying the knot to her Christian fiancée music producer Wassim Salibi.

Rima, the 30 years old first Miss USA queen was born in Lebanon and later moved to New York City with her family. She resided in Dearborn for several years, where she attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Salibi, a music producer, manages The Weeknd (Lebanon Band), who in the last year reached career highs with Grammy wins and #1 hits such as “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”

Fakih’s marriage caused controversy in the Muslim community as she had reportedly converted to Christianity before her wedding. On being asked about the controversy of her conversion, she stated: “I have a family that is a mix of different religions and different ethnicities,” she told the sources in 2010.  “My brother-in-law is Christian, and he (and my sister) baptized their two sons. I have an uncle who converted to Christianity, and he’s a priest now. My family is Muslim. But none of this ever came up in our family. We don’t look at religion as something that defines us, we look at religion as something that we respect, and something that teaches us about ethics.”

Fakih sacked the criticism she's received for her conversion. Last week she expressed her feelings about the backlash on her social media by stating, "I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not."
