20 Feb 2018 | Camilla Suarez

In a show of support to the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants shared a powerful message through their official Facebook accounts.

Everytown for Gun Safety is a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities. Their hashtag ‘Throw Them Out’ signifies an action plan to kick out lawmakers beholden to the gun lobby.

The support from Miss USA and Miss Teen USA comes as a surprise for people and has stirred controversy as Miss Universe Organization which operates both the national pageants in America was owned by Donald Trump from 1996 to 2015.

Miss Teen USA posted the photo on their official Instagram account to show their support in eradicating Gun violence after a mass shooting by a student at a high school in Florida this year. In 2018 alone, there have been eight school shootings that have resulted in death till now.

The official Instagram page of Miss USA reposted the photo in wake of their support to the movement.
