25 Jun 2021 | Camilla Suarez

With almost all the delegates from 50 states and the District of Columbia being selected, the Miss USA organization is all set to commence the journey for the 2021 edition and soon crown their new queen, Miss USA 2021. Asya Branch of Mississippi will crown her successor at the end of the event. The winner will go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2021 competition.

Recently, the Miss Texas USA team revealed that Miss USA Class of 2021 will all be traveling together to Cancun, Mexico prior to the pageant. This exciting news brings an elation to this year’s pageant especially after witnessing the underwhelming days and activities from the last few years.

Miss USA 2021 will be the first titleholder crowned under Crystle Stewart’s directorship which brings along loads of surprises for the pageant lovers with the new management. The former Miss USA 2008 was appointed as first ever Black National Director for Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageant at the beginning of the year.

Stewart said her first step as director will be re-branding the Miss USA system and making it "more uniform" across the board. She also mentioned that she plans to focus on how the pageant system helps women gain self-confidence and will work to ensure the system provides young women with that same opportunity she had.

Overall, Stewart said her priority in her new leadership role will be to show every American "who Miss USA is." She aspires to put future titleholders in the forefront of people’s minds by showing their depth. "We are looking for confidence, someone that’s authentic, someone that knows how to enhance their natural God-given assets and someone that’s philanthropic. That’s where I want Miss USA to be, and I know that it can be," she added.

Apart from the 4 days that the 51 candidates will spend in Cancun as pre-pageant training, the organization has made several other changes as well. Contestants this year, are finally free to wear whatever they to want to and not just the continuous Sherri Hill dresses as the organization said they want uniqueness and boldness. The glam shoot will be officially brought back too.

During their stay in Cancun, the candidates will be attending the orientation day, will have an official glam shoot and probably swimsuit photoshoots along, with the sponsor shoots. The contestants will also be recording content for the finals as well as promotional videos for the pageant.

The changes were warmly welcomed and loved by many former Miss USAs as they expressed their wish to compete again and praised Crystel for her commendable efforts in channeling back the fondness and respect towards Miss USA.

Miss USA 2021 will be the 70th edition of the Miss USA pageant. The competition will be held on November 29, 2021 at the Paradise Cove Theater of River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Due to restrictions implemented in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, numerous health and safety guidelines have been implemented for contestants, production members, and audiences at state pageants, such as taking a negative COVID-19 test and following social distancing.

We are excited for these new changes and many more surprises coming our way! Are you excited for Miss USA this year?
