It was at the official press conference of “My Perfect You” Pia Wurtzbach’s next flick in line that Pia expressed her opinion on this year’s Binibining Pilipinas competition. She spoke at length about the girls, her favourites, the competition in general and also the crowns.
Starting off with the people’s favourites, Catriona Gray and Michele Gumabao, she called them “very strong candidates” in the competition. Not just that, she practically called them the winners, “just a matter of what title they are going to get. I know that and I know that they will do very well,” she added.
Pia has an extensive history with Binibining Pilipinas competition, she herself being a part of the competition 3 times. During Binibining Pilipinas 2013, she was named as the 1st runner-up. She joined the Binibining Pilipinas 2014, but only placed in the Top 15. Then the winning year came in 2015 when she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2015. With such an experience in the competition, Pia has quite some knowledge about it.

Now the changes in the competition are quite clear to her. “Ang ganda na nung mga swimsuit nila. Ang ganda nung mga photoshoot nila. Nagpo-photo shoot na sila out of town, so natutuwa naman ako na umiikot 'yung mga girls,” she recalled.
(The swimsuits are pretty. Their photoshoots are so beautiful. They also have photoshoots out of town so I'm really happy that the girls are going around the country.)
She also hoped that the crowns could get an upgrade this year.
“I guess ‘yung last request ko nalang siguro, hindi naman ako yung masusunod, pero‘yung last na request na lang din ng taong bayan is sana makakita naman tayo ng bagong crowns this year. And when I mean crowns, literally crowns. So, maybe it’s time to upgrade the crowns.”
(I guess the last request, not that I'm the one that will have the final say but the people have been clamoring to see new crowns this year. And when I mean crowns, literally crowns. So maybe it's time to upgrade the crowns.)
