Just because Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is away from home, it has not stopped her from focusing on alarming issues in her beloved country, Philippines. Taking to her social media, Catriona put up a trending 10 Year Challenge for her country but of a different kind; she talked about the rise in HIV cases in the last ten years in the Philippines.

The newly crowned Miss Universe shared surprising statistics where HIV cases in the Philippines have risen exponentially from only 1 a day in 2008 to 32 a day in 2018. While the numbers seem to be alarming, the data also shows that the Philippines has been able to reach the affected population and increase the access to testing, which is a key step to stop the rising epidemic.

Catriona also raised this awareness in Collaboration with LoveYourself, an organization which believes in spreading the message of the value of self-worth and the critical importance of loving oneself.
