The Miss Angola organization has recently appointed former Miss Universe Leila Lopes as official National Director and President of the national pageant and in charge of electing Angola’s representative for Miss Universe. Leila is definitely one of the best choices for the position as she made the impossible possible in 2011 to bring home the glory of the Miss Universe title to Angola.

Leila is an Angolan model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2011. She had previously won Miss Angola UK 2010 and Miss Angola 2010, and was the first woman from Angola to win Miss Universe. Lopes is the 5th woman of African descent to win the title since the beginning of the worldwide pageant.

During her reign, Lopes visited Singapore, Indonesia, Angola, Cambodia, The Bahamas, Gabon, Jamaica, South Africa, Germany, Dominican Republic, Portugal, France, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Guyana, Nicaragua, Namibia, Kenya, Mozambique, and the USA.

Miss Angola is a national beauty pageant in Angola founded in 1997, where the winners were sent to Miss World since its inception. The Miss Angola organisation no longer holds the rights to Miss World. They currently hold the franchise to Miss Universe where the winner goes to the pageant. Within its first decade of competing internationally, Miss Angola had amassed six placements across the two pageants.

Leila is definitely a strong leader and can be expected to guide, train and elect strong representatives and delegates for the country. The organization is currently screening the applications for aspiring divas who will compete for the 2022 edition.
