Somnang Alyna, a Cambodian model and beauty pageant titleholder, was crowned Miss Universe Cambodia 2019 on 31st March 2019 at NABA Theatre, Naga 2. Having such a huge responsibility, she will now represent Cambodia at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.
A beauty queen, model and an emcee, Alyna was born and raised at Phnom Penh. She is a first-year student at the Pannasastra University of Cambodia majoring in International Relations. Her academic record is extremely impressive and that tells us that she is surely a beauty with brains. Being the eldest among the four siblings, Alyna is quite mature for an 18-year-old girl.
Not new to the pageantry, she represented Cambodia at the World Miss University 2017 where she was placed as the Top 16. She had first applied in 2018 along with 24 other candidates where in an interview of the same, Alyna was asked on why she deserved to win and answered. She answered by saying that she should win since she believed in the power of her beauty and knowledge.
To exactly quote, “I believe I deserve the crown because I believe in my beauty and knowledge. But I think all the candidates were great competitors because they were also very beautiful and knowledgeable. We got along very well and had a good time together. Although I was one of the youngest contestants, our age gaps did not really set us apart.”
The gorgeous diva is an advocate for positive change in the world and also for the education enhancement program for the youth.
She is also a part time model for Madam Boutique Amy, a clothing brand. Considering how young she is, it is amazing how well she is doing in her life. If she wins the international crown, she will promote women’s welfare through education. She also wishes to help poor and orphaned children go to schools so that they all get the education they deserve. She also wants to be a public speaker in order to inspire all the young people to be grateful for the education they get and never take it for granted.
