At the conclusion of the grand finale of Miss Universe Canada 2017 held last night at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, John Bassett Theatre, Toronto, the beautiful Lauren Howe was crowned as Miss Universe Canada 2017. She bested 64 other delegates competing for the crown, and will now represent Canada in Miss Universe 2017 competition to be held in Las Vegas, USA on 26th November 2017. She succeeds and was crowned by Siera Bearchell, the Miss Universe Canada 2016.
Lauren also won the Miss Photogenic award. Het court included Marta Magdalena Stepien (first runner-up), Meral Özerdinç (second runner-up), Diana Lai (third runner-up) and Kathryn Kohut (fourth runner-up). Remaining Top 10 finalists were Chanelle Preradovich, Justine Felizarta, Natasha Smith, Sasha Lombardi, and Serafina Oliverio.
The 20-year old Lauren is a student of Industrial Engineering student at the prestigious University of Toronto. Given her natural athleticism and affinity for sports, she acts as the Executive Vice President of the University of Toronto Sports and Business Association and is also a host and co-writer of the University of Toronto Varsity Sports Show.
Lauren is not new to the world of pageantry. She was the winner of Miss Teen World Canada in 2011 and went on to compete in Miss Teen World 2012, where she was placed in Top 5 and also won the Miss Congeniality award. Later, she competed in Miss Universe Canada 2014 where she finished as the second runner-up to the crowned queen Chanel Beckenlehner and also won the Best Hair award.
With two Miss Universe wins under its belt, can Canada win its third Miss Universe crown with Lauren representing Canada in Miss Universe 2017?
