Miss Universe Canada 2018 will host its coronation night on 18th August 2018 where the gorgeous Canadian divas will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent Canada at Miss Universe 2018. Miss Universe Canada 2017 Lauren Howe will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

But before that, in a series of features, we present you Angelopedia’s favourite contestants competing for the crown. The second diva in the series is Camila González from Ontario vying for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2018.

Camila González was born in Cali, Colombia who moved to Canada when she was three. She is 21 years of age, being one of the youngest contestants for Miss Universe Canada 2018. She has been working as a professional journalist for the past 8 years. She is currently working as a television host and producer for TLN Network in English and Univision Canada in Spanish, and as a model with Plutino Models.

Camila started working at a young age of 13 years as a radio host, on a children’s show where she discussed current issues to educate kids in a fun manner. When she was 18, she began working as a news and entertainment reporter with a Toronto radio station.

In her free time, Camila loves hiking, kickboxing, running, figure skating, and dancing. For leisure, she likes to read, travel, learn new languages and tell stories. She taught herself how to play the ukulele and the guitar. As a radio and television host, she has developed into a creative and unique personality and her passion for journalism has driven her to explore new perspectives, reach out to diverse people and create content that recognizes different ideas about our world.

Due to her exposure to public speaking she is confident and loves speaking in front of cameras and crowds. Her professional, academic and extracurricular achievements have given her the confidence, charisma and dedication that is necessary to be the next Miss Universe Canada.

She has had a lot of experience in the pageant world; she placed third runner-up at Miss Universe Canada 2016, Top 8 at Miss All Nations 2016, and being the first Canadian representative at Reina Hispanoamericana 2017. As a journalist and an international ambassador, she has the ability to speak to anybody, from the president of a country to a vulnerable source that needs to be assured that their voice matters. Her experience competing in pageants around the world has given her the opportunity to speak with people from all occupations in places like China, Bolivia, Panama and Colombia. She is ready to bring all of the skills and learning experiences that the past few years have given her to be a strong representative on the Miss Universe stage.
