Miss Universe Canada 2018 finale is slated to happen on 18th August 2018 where the gorgeous Canadian divas will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent Canada at Miss Universe 2018. Miss Universe Canada 2017 Lauren Howe will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
But before that, in a series of features, we present you Angelopedia’s favourite contestants competing for the crown. The third diva in the series is Karol Lopez Penagos from London, Ontario vying for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2018.
Karol Lopez was born in Pacho, a very small town in Colombia. When she was 14 years of age, she moved to London, Ontario. She came to Canada as a refugee; she is thankful to have her family with her and has considered Canada as her home ever since. She believes that accepting immigrates multiculturalism is the essence of Canada and that she is a very deserving representation of that essence.

Karol graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2015 in Journalism and Contemporary Studies. She also got her post- graduation certificate from Conestoga College in Broadcast Journalism and Documentary Production. She is now an office administrator after graduating from Fanshawe College. She already speaks Spanish and English and is now learning French.
She hopes that when she represents Canada internationally, she could let the whole world see that she is brave, courageous and perseverant.
She believes that in order to be happy and successful she just has to follow her dreams. Her favourite quote by Paulo Coelho is “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams…”
Karol has graced the runway for many national and international designers and has walked at Toronto Fashion Week, International Fashion Encounter, Latin American Fashion Week in Canada, Fashion Art Toronto just to name a few. Through her modeling work, Karol has volunteered with many special causes and charities such as Children without Borders, SickKids, Youth Day, Easter Seals Charity, Fashion against Poverty, and many more.
