Ashley Callingbull has been crowned Miss Universe Canada 2024. The 34-year-old, hailing from the Enoch Cree Nation near Edmonton, Alberta, will now represent Canada at the 73rd Miss Universe competition in Mexico this November.
Ashley Callingbull's journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Born to Cree parents, she began her pageant career at a young age, winning all Enoch’s princess crowns by just 10 years old. Her impressive resume includes representing Canada at the Miss Friendship International Pageant in China, the Queen of the World competition in Germany, and Miss Humanity International in Barbados, all in 2010 and 2011. Notably, she became the first Indigenous woman to win the title of Mrs. Universe in August 2015.
A prominent advocate for her community, Ashley earned the Role Model Award from the United Nations in 2015 and the Youth Award at the Indspire Awards in 2019. She was also inducted into the Circle Of Honour at the Esquao Awards in 2016 and named one of the Top 10 Power Women in Canada. In 2022, she broke new ground as the first Indigenous First Nations woman to become a Sports Illustrated Model.
Currently, Ashley serves as an in-game host for major sports leagues, including the NHL, National Lacrosse League, and Canadian Football League. She has also made headlines for participating in the Miss Universe “Be Pia’s VIP” charity contest in 2017, where she was crowned by then Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.
