The 70th edition of Miss Universe pageant, Miss Universe 2021, is all set to be held on 13th December 2021 in Eilat, Israel where Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
While delegates from all over the world are in the last leg of their preparations and have started to depart for the host country, one of the first few contestants to depart is Antonia Cristal Figueroa of Chile. The queen took off for the 70th Miss Universe pageant from the Arturo Merino Benítez SCL Airport on 24th November 2021.
Parting from her country, the diva took to her social media as she wrote, “Seeing dozens of people saying goodbye and wishing me the best of success has been an unexpected and beautiful surprise. It is the energy I needed before leaving! Thank you family, friends, and team... thank you Chile. We will give it our all and more.”
“I am very grateful for all the support that I have received throughout this beautiful process and that today is heading to Israel. We are going to Miss Universe! Let's go Chileans, if we can dream and change the course of our destinies. This is the work of a great team and a country that needs joys,” she added.
Hailing from Coquimbo, Antonia is a 26 years-old Civil Environmental Engineering student and a model by profession. She is also a Taekwondo champion and former professional violinist of the municipal theater in her region. She speaks fluent English, German and Portuguese.
Figueroa is not new to pageantry as she has won the titles of Miss Mundo Chile 2016 and Miss Earth Chile 2018. She represented Chile and competed at Miss World 2016 where she was unplaced but she finished in the Top 10 in the talent competition. In 2018, she represented Chile at Miss Earth and finished in the Top 12.
Apart from being a pageant veteran, she is also the president of an NGO called, ‘Volunteers for Children’, that helps children and adolescents in Sename residences. She is also an environmentally aware citizen who wishes to bring about a change in the society through her delegacy. Antonia is confident, experienced and determined making her one of the strongest contenders for the title of Miss Universe 2021.
