Mohra Tantawy crowned Miss Universe Egypt 2023

The finale of Miss Universe Egypt 2023 was held on 25th September 2023 in Cairo, Egypt where Mohra Tantawy was crowned the new winner as she became the official representative of Egypt at Miss Universe 2023.

Mohra Tantawy is 21 years of age and hails from Cairo. She holds a bachelors degree in business marketing and is a model by profession. Not new to the pageant world, Mohra is a former Miss Intercontinental Egypt who competed in Miss Intercontinental 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh.

 

 

During the final Q&A segment, Tantawy was asked, “What do you think is the biggest reason why poverty still exists in many countries in the world?”

Her winning answer was, “I believe, the main reason why poverty still exists in many countries is the lack of resources such as education or the lack of economic opportunities and if I was to be Miss Universe Egypt, I would work with both local and international organization to create micro-funding environment and to empower these people that are stuck in the unfortunate circumstance of poverty and just empower them to break out of the cycle.”

The rest of the finalists who also competed for Miss Universe Egypt 2023 are Aya Abdelrazik, Amera Othman, Doaa Meera Tarek, and Salma Eltoukhy.

 

 

The 2023 edition of the national pageant was the first edition of the national pageant since the Dubai-based company Yugen Group held license for Egypt to compete for Miss Universe.

Egypt last competed at Miss Universe in 2019 under Diana Hamed’s delegation. The country is yet to pioneer its win at Miss Universe. Miss Universe 2023, the 72nd edition of Miss Universe, will be held in El Salvador on 18th November 2023 where Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel of USA will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
