Amidst the coronavirus crisis, Miss Universe Ireland 2018 Grainne Gallanagh is to return to nursing in a bid to help relieve short-staffed hospitals. Grainne is hanging her dancing shoes to show her kindness for such a humanitarian cause. The Irish beauty had been in precautionary self-isolation since coming out of 'Dancing with the Stars'.
But Grainne has now decided to return to nursing as part of the HSE's Call for Ireland recruitment drive for healthcare staff, which has seen over 50,000 people applying to help. Grainne qualified as a nurse in 2016 and nursed in the UK for years before her modelling career took and she won Miss Universe Ireland 2018 title.
Grainne talked about her feelings on returning to nursing as she said, “I'll be a bit nervous going back, but obviously with everything going on it's the best thing to do. I'm not sure what to expect. I have colleagues who are already during everything in the hospitals right now and it's such a stressful environment anyway. Hats off to anyone who works in a hospital - I know what it can be like, it can be so, so stressful... and we don't know what way things are going to go. It's so uncertain, it's a scary time, it's scary for everyone but I think especially for people in hospital."
Grainne also believes that her vital healthcare skills would be ‘waste’ if they went unused during a pandemic. She has proven that she is an epitome of what a beauty queen embodies. Grainne represented Ireland in Miss Universe 2018 and placed in Top 20 with her stunning performance.
