Daena Soares crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2021

Miss Universe Jamaica organization held the coronation night for the 2021 edition last night which was held at Riu Montego Bay. At the end of the event finale, Daena Soares was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2021 by her predecessor Miss Universe Jamaica 2020 Miqueal-Symone Williams.

The 22-year-old stunning beauty gave a stellar performance at the national finals. She wore the sash Miss Icon Megastore and held the Miss Universe Jamaica Central title at the pageant. Soares hails from Jamaica's Breadbasket Parish, St Elizabeth who recently completed her bachelors of basic medical sciences from The University of the West Indies. At the finale, she was also awarded Most Photogenic and Congeniality Award. Soares was a part of our favourites for the crown as well.

The newly crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2021 Daena Soares’ court included –

1st Runner-up – Trishanie Weller

2nd Runner-up – Lauren Less

 

 

Dr Terri-Karelle Reid completed the host duties as she returned to the stage for the seventh time. Singer Brandon Williams oversaw the entertainment and kept the audience tranced throughout. Special guests included Dionne Tarter Mrs Jamaica World 2021 and Nadine Thomas-Hylton Miss Universe Jamaica 1997, who also chaired the selection committee. 

A number of special awards were also presented at the finale; Keronica Lewis was adjudged Altruism Award while Trishanie Weller and Daena Soares shared the Congeniality Award. Daena Soares, the winner, also won the Miss Photogenic award while Lauren Less was awarded Best in Swimwear. Kim-Marie Spence won the Best in Evening wear award.

Miss Universe Jamaica 2020 Miqueal-Symone Williams took her last walk as the national queen. She represented Jamaica at Miss Universe 2020 where she placed in the Top 10. Before handing over her crown, she also tweeted, "I'm so happy being Miss Universe Jamaica and I'm so happy to be passing on the crown to a woman who I'm sure will do great things."
