The organization of Miss Universe Japan is all set to host the coronation event of Miss Universe Japan 2020 on 29th October 2020 where the stunning beauties from all over the country will compete for the national crown and an opportunity to represent the Japan in Miss Universe 2020. Miss Universe 2019 Ako Kamo will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

We’ve selected our top 5 favorites who we think have the potential to win the national crown and represent Japan at Miss Universe 2020 stage:

Aisha Harumi Tochigi

Aisha is one of the strong contenders at the beauty pageant and is very passionate about her work as a model. She is the descent of Japan and Ghana and has been volunteering in both the countries for the women’s rights. She is not new to the world of pageantry as she has been a part of Miss Universe Japan 2019 where she was placed at the top 5. Haruka Nakata

Haruka is 21-years-old and stands 169 cm tall and is currently a studying Business Marketing in the US. She explained in her introduction video that she loves to meet new people and understand their culture and traditions. She wants to use the platform to create awareness and education people about irradiating the cultural difference. She is strong, confident, and determined to win the title and represent Japan at Miss Universe 2020 stage. Kilala Watanabe

Kilala is a world champion in cheerleading as she performed competitive cheerleading for 10 years and with Miss Universe Japan 2020 platform, she wants to encourage people men and women included to be creative and courageous in their lives. She explained that with sports training she has learned how to work in a team and be focused towards the goal and that is something she is going to do at the beauty pageant. Raimu Kaminashi

Raimu is half-Japanese on her mother’s side, half-Nigerian on her father’s side and identifies as a mixed-race Japanese. She was raised in Gifu Prefecture and has participated in national competitions as a track athlete. Raimu wants to use the platform to show the second-generation children of African descent that they can achieve anything they want to. In one of her interviews, she had mentioned, “I hope we can live in a social environment where black hafu children, who currently aren’t represented in many areas in Japan, aren’t typecast and can take pride in their identities from being able to be active in various fields besides sports like arts, fashion and politics; I dream of a Japan where they can freely pursue their dreams.” She hopes to push up against unspoken cultural biases and norms at every opportunity and aspires to become a role model to second-generation children with African roots.

Yuki Sonoda

Yuki also has a dual heritage as her mother is from Philippines while her father hails from Kagoshima. The stunning beauty has the confidence and aura to command a room and that will be her advantage at the national pageant. She was placed as the first runner-up at Miss Supranational Japan 2016 and later and represented Japan at Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 where she was placed in the Top 10. She wants to use the platform to raise awareness about women’s health and drawing inspiration from her personal experience, she wants to use the power of her being able to speak in three languages as a medium to reach out the masses. She really believes in the power of action as she is seen quoting Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it.
