Miss Universe Spain 2018 (Miss Universo Espana 2018) is under preparation as the regional crownings have already started. The pageant will crown the successor of Miss Universe Spain 2017 Sofía del Prado at the conclusion of the coronation night of the event. The latest regional winner that has been crowned is Miss Universe Las Palmas 2018.
On 10th June, 2018, Paola López was crowned Miss Universe as Palmas 2018 for Miss Universe Spaiin 2018. The event was held at Puerto de Mogán for the second year in a row. The president of Puerto de Mogán, Santiago Ara, placed the band on the new beauty queen as former Miss Universe Las Palmas 2017 Daira Santana crowned her.
Julia Vega was adjudged the first runner-up. In addition, she was awarded, by her fellow contestants, the title of Miss Congeniality. Alba Mechad was the Second runner-up and won theMiss Photogenic award. Another contestant, Selene Melián, was given the Miss Elegancetitle.
The Gala was full of funny anecdotes. The designer Fernando Méndez was the artistic director and the communicators Roberto Herrera of RTVE and Rebeca Paniagua of TVC were the presenters. Tutto Durán and Joana Cerpa were the stars that kept the audiences entertained during the evening.
The young aspirants to the crown went through three rounds at the finale night. They walked the ramp in a bathing suit, designed exclusively by Nicole Mentado of the firm Maldito Sweet and another in a blue bikini from the same firm. They posed in evening dresses from the renowned international firm Rosa Clará.
The jury, composed of 8 members, highlighted how difficult the election had been due to the qualities of the candidates of the contest. Among the judges were the RTVE journalist, Cristina Almandós; the Canarian lawyer, Roberto Orive; The businessmen Fermín Sánchez; Iván Muños who served as secretary and Mar Guerra of the firm Rosa Clará. The jurors from the world of fashion were model Olivia Alonso and Sofía del Prado, Miss Universe Spain 2017. The actress Lili Quintana presided over the jury as well.
