The coronation night of Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 was held on Friday, 7th October 2022 at the M Resort & Hotel in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur where Cheam Wei Yeng (Lesley) was crowned the new queen as she became the official representative of Malaysia at Miss Universe 2022. However, while the Malaysians enjoy the crowning of the new queen, a few pageant fanatics have shown their outrage over Ajunee Kaur’s first runner-up placement at the pageant.

Now, petitions are being prepared to replace the new winner and make Ajunee Kaur as the new titleholder. There’s no denying that Ajunee was a prepared and a strong fan-favourite for the national crown ever since the beginning of the competition. She even made it to our top hot picks for the crown.

The young 20-year-old Ajunee, has however, showed her compassion and support to her pageant sisters as she recently took to her official social media and thanked everyone for the experience. She wrote, Took some time before writing this post, but it was worth it as I’m now in a space where I can happily write this. To Malaysia, as a young 20-year-old girl who had no experience in pageantry you welcomed me with open arms. You showed me the hospitality and love that we Malaysians are known for. I thank you for all that you have done for me.”

“My final night performance was a dedication to you, to show the universe how powerful a Malaysian woman’s voice can be. I love you all dearly and will carry this experience with me throughout my life. To my pageant sisters, all 13 of you, thank you for making this journey such a wonderful one. I have made some friendships that I know are truly going to last for a lifetime. We all had our ups and downs, but we were always there for each other”, she added.

While the pageant lovers believe that she would have been the ideal choice to break the 52-year-old pageant drought for Malaysia, Ajunee still has years to go to give the pageant another go and win the chance to represent Malaysia at an esteemed pageant such as Miss Universe. Meanwhile, Cheam Wei Yeng (Lesley) has begun her preparations to compete at Miss Universe 2022, which will be held on 14th January 2022 in New Orleans, USA.
