The Miss Universe Nepal organization hosted the 2nd edition of the national pageant, Miss Universe Nepal 2021 on 30th October 2021 at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Kathmandu, where aspiring delegates from all over the country will compete against each other for the title and an opportunity to represent Nepal at Miss Universe 2021. At the end of the event Sujita Basnet was crowned as the new queen as she succeeded Miss Universe Nepal 2020 Anshika Sharma for the title.

With a belief that it’s not easy to fulfill your dreams but with patience and persistence, you can turn your dreams into reality, 28 years-old Sujita is a pageant veteran on a journey to win hearts and represent Nepal internationally. Along with her own dreams, she hopes to inspire the dreams of individuals across the nation through her initiative ‘Liberated’, an organization dedicated to empower women who are socially and financially bound from reaching their potential.

Not new to pageantry, Sujita was adjudged as the first runner-up of the national pageant last year. In November 2019, Sujita won the 2nd Runner Up title and Public Choice Award of Miss Maryland USA 2020. Thus, she became the official delegate of Miss Earth USA 2020. Not new to the pageantry, Sujita became the first ever Miss Nepal USA in 2011. In 2016, she was awarded the title of Miss Maryland World 2016 and went onto represent Maryland in Miss World America 2016 where she placed in the Top 12. After that, she placed as the second runner-up at Miss Maryland USA 2020, one of the biggest titles for a Nepali diva to get. She was also the Popular Choice award winner at the competition.

Miss Universe Nepal 2021 Sujita Basnet’s court includes –

Carrying forward the ‘Brave, Bold, Beautiful’ tagline, this year's pageant was indeed a power-packed competition. Earlier this year, Anshika Sharma represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2020 in Florida, USA, where her non-selection in the Top 21 finalists came as a big shock. She had been exceptional since the competition’s beginning with her potential and performances.

This year, Sujita has big shoes to fill in as she will head to the Miss Universe Nepal 2021 stage to represent the country. Miss Universe 2021 will be the 70th Miss Universe pageant, to be held on December 12, 2021 in Eilat, Israel. Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Congratulations queen!
