Miss Universe calling for Bea Patricia Magtanong?

24 Apr 2020 | Priya Bhardwaj

Bea Patricia de Guzman Magtanong (aka Patch Magtanong) rose to fame as she was crowned Miss International Philippines 2019 and represented her country in Miss International 2019. With her incredible performance, she placed in the Top 8 at the end of the event finale. The Filipina beauty has, since then, made a permanent place for herself in the hearts of the Filipinos around the world.

A lawyer by profession, Patch has completed her studies from University of the Philippines, Diliman. Standing 175 cm tall, Patch has made her way into the pageantry with a strong footing. Now the question arises if her pageant career will have just this feather in her cap or will she continue to strive for more In our opinion, Patch should definitely become a part of Miss Universe Philippines next year and represent Philippines at Miss Universe 2021. Being 26 years of age, Patch will not get another chance due to age limits after the next edition.

Born in the province of Bataan, Central Luzon region, Patch’s father is a lawyer and her mother is an accountant by profession. Idolizing her father, Patch always wanted to follow in his footsteps and she did too, years later completing her degree in Law. Aside from her education, Patch also is a fashion and commercial model and a member of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP).

After winning her first ever pageant in 2019 as she won Binibining Pilipinas International 2019 crown, Patch paved her way smoothly into the pageantry. Showing her fluency and oratory skills, Patch answered her question with confidence which was “If you could have the opportunity to meet somebody globally influential, who would that be and why?” She replied, "I really idolize Angelina Jolie because she is blessed with not just a thriving career in Hollywood, but then as a woman, she is able to use that influence, that voice, and that audience to advocate for the causes that she believes in, like breaking world hunger with the UN. And someday, if given the chance, I would like to be just like her. Thank you."

Even though Patch was a mega favourite for Miss Universe Philippines 2020 as well, she denied the rumours of her participation saying her foremost responsibility was towards her Miss International crown. If she will even represent her country again is still unknown, but one can surely hope that she gives it another try and bring home another Miss Universe crown after Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
