Cebu dominates Philippines pageantry in 2021

The past week has been a joyful ride for pageant lovers, especially the Filipinos as the two new queens for two of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world were crowned within the fortnight as Tracy Maureen Perez was crowned Miss World Philippines 2021, whereas Beatrice Luigi Gomez was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021. With these new queens, it seems that this year is meant for Cebu in pageantry, with the impressive perfomances of the representatives of the Queen City of the South in this year's national competitions.

The Miss World Philippines organization pulled through the coronation for Miss World Philippines 2021, after five postponements, on 3rd October 2021, where two Cebuanas won crowns. Tracy Perez of Cebu City bested over 40 candidates and will represent the country in the Miss World pageant in Puerto Rico in December. Shaila Rebortera of Cebu Province, on the other hand, was crowned Miss Multinational Philippines 2021.

Less than a week ago, Miss Universe Philippines 2021, the 2nd edition of the national pageant was held, where Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez won the title and the opportunity to represent Philippines at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Israel, also to be held in December. Apart from the national title, Steffi Aberasturi of Cebu Province made it to the final round of the national pageant, finishing second runner-up.

Beatrice has created history by becoming the first ever openly gay contestant from Philippines to represent the country at Miss Universe. The stunning beauty represented Cebu city at the national competition and was a front-runner for the crown ever since the beginning of the competition.

Cebu has been producing some of the most successful beauty queens over the years including Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2018 Eva Patalinjug, Miss Intercontinental 2014 second runner-up Kris Tiffany Janson, Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, and Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry, to name a few.
