Evangeline Fuentes, a very famous pageant queen in the Philippines, was seen applying for Miss Universe Philippines 2023 at the on-site screening and the pageant fanatics can not seem to keep calm. MUO, under the new leadership, is looking to crown a ‘transformational leader’ as the next Miss Universe and Evangeline Fuentes fits the need ‘to a T’.

Evangeline Fuentes has a story which can be the biggest inspiration for the future beauty queens who wish to follow in her footsteps. From being a garbage collector, farmer, vendor, and now a founder of her charity, Evangeline Fuentes surely has come a way.

Evangeline is meant to be a transformational leader; she grew up in a landfill in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. The youngest of nine siblings, Evangeline's father is a farmer while her mother is a dressmaker. Fuentes had to help her family since she was in grad school by being a farmer, trash collector, and vendor.

However, it was her dream to inspire people in her own community as she was a student leader and graduated from high school and grade school with honors. For her dream, her siblings sacrificed, worked together, and helped each other to finance her studies. With their help, she earned her degree in Accountancy at Panpacific University.

Now, being a model and entrepreneur, Fuentes works in the real estate industry, and is the founder of a Kalakal Charity that empowers children in landfill. She also founded the ‘Smile Program’ in 2019 in Urdaneta City to give hope and smiles to all young garbage collectors. She also extended help to the landfill families during the pandemic by giving packed meals and supplies. Aside from Pangasinan, Evangeline also expanded her love for children in Cebu and extended help to the Odette victims in 2021.

Fuentes is also not new to the pageant world; she holds the titles of Ms. Panpacific University 2017, Bb. Republica ng Pilipinas Congreso de Malolos 2018, and Bb. Urdaneta City 2020. With her inspirational story, her strong advocacy and her experience, Fuentes will definitely be the ‘transformational leader’ Miss Universe is looking for.
