Denise Quiñones, Miss Universe 2001, has left the position of director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization to give way to other professional experiences. Wapa Televisión, holders of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico franchise, announced the news after Denise spent three years as director of franchise.
Quiñones said in a statement provided by Wapa TV, “The responsibility of running the franchise has been an incredible challenge for me, as well as a great learning opportunity and life experience. I feel extremely satisfied and proud both of my work and of the demonstration of professionalism, dedication and commitment of my team. I will always be proud of this mission successfully accomplished.”
The television station added that the franchise team continues to work on Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 Estefanía Soto's advocacy and preparing the new stage, including the casting and the local contest. Wapa TV also announced that on Saturday, 5th June at 10 am, there will be a casting at the channel's facilities in Guaynabo.
Miss Universe 2020 was held on 16th May 2021 where Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned the new queen. Estefanía Soto Torres represented Puerto Rico with absolute sincerity and dedication and placed in Top 10.
