Miss Romania that was established in the late 1920s, was responsible to send delegates to represent the country of Romania at Miss Universe stage. Magda Demetrescu won the first pageant in 1929. She then participated in the former Miss Universe pageant in Texas, where she placed sixth at the end of the event finale.

The participation of Romania at international pageants ceased by 1936, though a Communist-pageant was held in the country in the 1970s. Miss Romania Daniella Nane was the one who participated in Miss Universe 1991 and the participation of Romania was started again. After 1998, Romania dropped from Miss Universe for 11 years, and returned in 2009. In 2016, the license to celebrate the contest Miss Universe Romania was granted to the agency ExclusivEvent, having as president to Ernest Hadrian Böhm.

Recently, Miss Romania has announced that the representative of Romania for Miss Universe 2020 stage will be elected at a new franchise i.e., Miss Universe Romania. The coronation ceremony for Miss Universe Romania 2020 will be held in the month of October 2020 at the wonderful and luxurious Premier Palace and Spa Hotel in Bucharest, Romania. The delegates from all over the country will compete for the national title as well as an opportunity to represent Romania at Miss Universe 2020 stage.

The Miss Universe Romania organization is not only looking for young divas who are of captivating beauty, but intelligent, educated, self-confident young women who would be wonderful examples and who would represent Romania in the best light.

Last year Miss Romania 2019 Dorina Chihaia represented Romania at Miss Universe 2019 stage and was appreciated for her performance. Unfortunately, she wasn’t placed at the competition but the Miss Universe Romania organization is hopeful that the new franchise with new mentors will help the delegate to prepare for the competition and land at a high place during the competition.
