The grand finale of Miss Universe Singapore 2018 is to be held on 31st August 2018 at the One Farrer Hotel where 15 beautiful and deserving candidates will be competing to become the national representative of Singapore at Miss Universe 2018 to be held on 17th December 2018.
The winner will be crowned by their predecessor Miss Universe Singapore 2017 Manuela Blanka Bruntraeger who was a Singapore’s delegate in Miss Universe 2017. There are 15 contestants taking part in the finale, but Angelopedia has selected its top 5 favourite finalists who are most likely to win the pageant and become the national representative of Singapore at Miss Universe 2018. The five contestants are as follows –
Ischelle Koo
Ischelle Koo is one the finalists of Miss Universe Singapore 2018 who is 22 years of age. She is an aspiring doctor who used to be a medical undergrad but dropped out due to personal issues. Now she wants to study at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in National University of Singapore (NUS) and pursue masters in political science and public policy. She wants to use her national platform to reach out to people suffering from mental disorders. She plays the piano and violin and also does yoga.
Sharin Keong
Sharin is a 26-year-old pre-school teacher and is an experienced contestant in many competitions, for example, she was the winner of The New Paper New Face in 2012 and was a contestant in Supermodel Me in 2014. She holds a diploma in the Montessori Method of education and wants to pursue a degree in early childhood education. She wants to advocate for education for all children especially the ones from low-income families.
Tyen Rasif
Tyen Rasif is a professional bodybuilder who came in second in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Asian Championships 2017 in Mongolia and fourth in the Olympia Amateur Asia 2017 in Hong Kong. She is 22 years of age and is a marketing undergraduate from Singapore Management University. She wants to use her platform to encourage more and more people to get fit and healthy. She is also a YouTuber and a musician.
Soh Qiao Ying
A Business Development Manager, 23-year-old Soh Qiao wants to advocate for women and girls who have faced sexual assault and violence to speak out and come together to face it. A victim of molestation herself, she decided to empower and rise up and help others. She wants to use her platform to raise awareness regarding the challenges that women face in their personal and professional lives. She looks up to US first lady Michelle Obama, singer Beyonce and tech executive Marissa Mayer who, she believes, empower women through education, health and justice.
Tiong Jia En
Tiong is a 23-year-old Rhythm Cycling Instructor who started earning at a young age to support her family. Her parents inspired her to work hard and now she is a graduate of the National University of Singapore with a degree in communications and new media. She has also launched her swimwear label named Sorakini. She wants to use this platform to help women who are battling with insecurities as she believes it affects people’s individuality as she herself used to feel insecure about a few of her own facial features which she overcame.
All of the above candidates have their own advocacies and are trying their very best to prove themselves. Who do you think will win the title of Miss Universe Singapore 2018?
