Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 (Hoa hau Hoan vu Viet Nam 2019), the 4th edition of Miss Universe Vietnam, hosted its grand coronation night on 7th December 2019 where forty-four delegates competed for the national crown and the opportunity to represent Vietnam in Miss Universe 2020. At the end of the event finale, Nguyen Tran Khanh Van was crowned the new queen by Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 H’Hen Nie.
From Ho Chi Minh city, Nguyen Tran Khanh Van competed with sincerity and elegance at the national contest. Standing 175 cm tall, she was the epitome of grace and knew what she was doing as she won the crown defeating so many beautiful divas. Not new to the pageantry, Van first participated in Miss Vietnam 2014 where she placed in the Top 40. Then, she went on to participate in Miss Universe Vietnam 2015 but was only able to make it to the Top 10.
Nguyen took to her social media to reveal her happiness in a post captioned, “First of all, I would like to thank my parents and my family for always supporting me. I would like to express my thanks to all the uncles, brothers and sisters in BGK, BTC and the ekip - the contestant management team, friends and students of Miss Hoan Vu Vietnam 2019.”
She also thanked everyone who helped her in her journey saying, “Thank you to the designers, the photographers, the cameraman, the make up team who have been with me all this time, we will continue to accompany each other on the way ahead.”
The newly crowned queen’s court included –
1st Runner-Up – Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen
Nguyen Huynh is 24 years of age and hails from Vietnam's southern Can Tho city.
2nd Runner-Up – Pham Hong Thuy Van
Pham is 26 years of age and hails from Ho Chi Minh City. She was also named the third runner-up of Miss International 2015.
Other than the winner and her court, Top 5 comprised of Dao Thi Ha and Nguyen Thi Huong Ly.
Like the 2017 edition, the competition was accompanied by a reality TV series called I Am Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 in which the Top 60 contestants were put through challenges and training programs in each episode, and on the basis of the performance during the show fifteen contestants were eliminated before the preliminary competition. Top 44 contestants (one contestant withdrew before the preliminary competition) then moved on to participate in the preliminary competition on 3rd December and the finale on 7th December.
The fifteen contestants who moved forward as the finale night began included Kieu Thi Thuy Hang, Luong Y Nhu, Pham Thi Anh Thu, Le Thu Trang, Nguyen Diana, Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen, Pham Hong Thuy Van, Le Hoang Phuong, Lam Thi Bich Tuyen, Nguyen Thi Huong Ly, Vu Thi Hoa Lien, Vu Quynh Trang, Nguyen Dang Tuong Linh, Dao Thi Ha and Nguyen Tran Khanh Van.
From these fifteen gorgeous beauties, the final ten that moved forward in the journey to the crown were Luong Y Nhu, Pham Thi Anh Thu, Le Thu Trang, Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen, Pham Hong Thuy Van, Le Hoang Phuong, Nguyen Thi Huong Ly, Vu Quynh Trang, Dao Thi Ha, Nguyen Tran Khanh Van.

Best Smile – Nguyen Dang Tuong Linh
An accomplished panel of jury sat to crown a new representative which included Võ Thi Xuan Trang – John Robert Powers School principal, Lê Diep Linh – ergonomist, Công Trí – fashion designer, Thanh Hang – fashion model, actress, beauty pageant titleholder, Samuel Hoàng – photographer, Huong Giang – beauty pageant titleholder and Vu Thu Phuong – businesswoman, fashion model.
