Pham Thi Huong Miss Universe Vietnam Plastic Surgery Controversy

Before the finale of Miss Universe Vietnam, which was held on October 3, an anonymous letter was sent to the beauty pageant organizers, alleging that Huong has had a jaw augmentation.

The sender, who claimed to be an audience member and also a fan of the contest, suggested that the organizers look at some photos, in which Huong’s jaw turned from a short, square shape into a long, slim one.

As per surces, the 24-year-old beauty has continually asserted that she was carefully checked by Dr. Le Diep Linh, an expert in anthropometry (the scientific study of the measurements and proportions of the human body), along with other contestants, so there are no grounds to say she had cosmetic surgery.

The checking process was conducted in front of many people. If there had been anything wrong, the organizers would have been the first to raise their voice,” said Huong.

Explaining why her jaw has changed, Huong said it resulted from makeup techniques, her improved fashion-style, and her effort to keep in shape by exercising every day, without forgetting to ask some close friends to help prove her sincerity.

According to the regulations of Vietnam’s beauty pageants, the contenders are required to have natural beauty and are not allowed to undergo any previous cosmetic surgery.

Huong, who hails from the northern city of Hai Phong, was one of the brightest candidates for the crown. She also claimed the Sea Pageant Title, a minor prize of the competition.

The beauty is currently a lecturer at the Saigon College of Arts, Culture and Tourism.

Huong temporarily keeps the crown worth VND2.2 billion (US$96,322) and was awarded with a cash prize of VND200 million ($8,756). She is also entitled to the use a luxury car and apartment in Ho Chi Minh City during her coronation tenure, the Newswire reported.
